Privacy Policy for My Diary

Effective Date: October 5, 2026 | Last Updated: October 5, 2026

Summary: Daily Diary: Journal with Lock is designed with an offline-first, privacy-by-design architecture. Your personal diary entries, voice notes, photos, and moods are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers or sold to third parties.

1. Introduction

Welcome to Daily Diary: Journal with Lock (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), developed by Pinflares. We are committed to protecting your personal privacy and safeguarding your personal memories.

This Privacy Policy outlines how your information is handled when using our mobile application on Android and iOS devices, and complies with international data privacy regulations including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Google Play Developer Program Policies.

2. Core Principle: 100% Local & Offline-First Data Sovereignty

Unlike cloud-reliant journaling apps, Daily Diary operates primarily as an offline-first application:

  • Journal Entries & Text: Your diary titles, text blocks, checklists, and highlights are stored exclusively on your device’s local database.
  • Photos & Videos: Photos and videos attached to entries remain in your local app storage directory and are not uploaded to any remote server or cloud database.
  • Voice Recordings: Audio reflections and voice notes are captured and saved directly onto your device’s local filesystem.
  • Zero Account Registration: You are not required to create an account, log in with an email, or provide personal identity details to use the App.

3. Device Security & Biometric Protection

The App offers security features including PIN lock, Pattern lock, and Biometric authentication (Fingerprint / Face Unlock):

  • Biometric authentication utilizes the standard Android BiometricPrompt and iOS LocalAuthentication APIs.
  • We do not collect, process, or store your biometric data. All biometric verification happens securely within your device’s hardware security module (Secure Enclave / Trusted Execution Environment). The App only receives a cryptographic confirmation of whether authentication succeeded or failed.
  • Optional Vault Encryption utilizes local AES-256 encryption keys generated directly on your device.

4. Information Collected by Third-Party Services

While your journal content remains local, the App integrates industry-standard third-party SDKs to facilitate advertising, in-app purchases, crash diagnostics, and anonymous analytics:

A. Google AdMob (Advertisements for Free Users)

For users on our free tier, the App displays banner, interstitial, and rewarded video ads via Google AdMob:

  • Google AdMob may collect and process device identifiers (such as the Google Advertising ID / GAID), coarse location, IP addresses, and interaction metrics to serve relevant or non-personalized ads.
  • The App incorporates an internal fraud-shield mechanism to mitigate accidental or invalid click traffic.
  • You may opt-out of personalized advertising via your device settings: Settings > Google > Ads > Delete Advertising ID or Reset Advertising ID.
  • Learn how Google uses data when you use our app.

B. RevenueCat & Google Play Billing (Subscriptions & In-App Purchases)

If you purchase a VIP Pass (Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime), financial transactions are processed directly by the Google Play Store:

  • We never collect, receive, or store your credit card, bank details, or billing information.
  • We utilize RevenueCat to validate receipts and manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat processes an anonymous App User ID and purchase transaction receipt metadata to activate premium features (e.g. ad-free experience, luxury themes).
  • RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

C. Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics & Performance)

To improve app stability and fix technical errors, we use Google Firebase:

  • Firebase Crashlytics: Collects anonymized crash stack traces, device hardware specs, OS versions, and app state at the time of a failure to help us resolve bugs.
  • Firebase Analytics & Performance: Collects aggregated, non-personally identifiable usage statistics (e.g. app launch times, screen views, feature popularity).
  • Firebase Data Privacy and Security Policy.

5. Device Permissions Requested

The App requests only permissions strictly necessary for its functionality:

PermissionPurpose
Camera (CAMERA)Optional: Allows taking photos directly within the editor to attach to diary entries.
Photos & Videos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO)Optional: Enables selecting personal photos/videos from your gallery to attach to entries or customize cover backgrounds. Supported via Android Photo Picker.
Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO)Optional: Enables recording audio reflections and voice notes within journal entries. Audio is saved only to local storage.

Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT)Optional: Unlocks your private journal via fingerprint or facial recognition on supported devices.

6. Data Retention, Backup, and Deletion Rights

  • Full User Control: You can edit, archive, soft-delete (Recycle Bin), or permanently delete any entry at any time directly within the App.
  • Complete Data Erasure: Because your diary data is stored locally, clearing the App’s data via Android Settings or uninstalling the App permanently deletes all entries, voice notes, and photos from your device.
  • Export & Backup: The App provides self-service JSON data export and printable PDF export features, giving you total portability over your personal data.

7. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Our application is not targeted toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal data from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to third-party services through our App, please contact us immediately, and we will take prompt action.

8. Rights Under GDPR (European Union) & CCPA (California)

Under applicable international privacy frameworks (GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you have rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Access & Portability: You can export all your data at any time using the App’s built-in JSON and PDF export tools.
  • Right to Deletion: You have complete power to delete individual entries or empty the entire database directly inside the app.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Advertising partners collect pseudonymous identifiers solely for legitimate advertising operations as governed by their respective privacy terms.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates, new legal requirements, or service changes. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the App following any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
